Technology and Development Trend of Hub Bearing
Author:
High Performance Seal Ring
Because hub bearings are very close to the ground and high temperature brake discs and other parts, they need to adapt to various complex road conditions and harsh driving environment. Therefore, the bearing seal ring must have good anti-leakage grease performance, but also must have good heat resistance, anti-mud and sewage performance.
Rolling technology
The third generation hub bearings generally use rolling technology to self-lock semi-inner rings. When rolling technology is used, the axial load makes the hub spindle end plastic deformation, which makes the hub spindle and semi-inner rings connected as one. Compared with the traditional nut fastening, the third generation hub bearings with rolling technology can help reduce the volume and weight, reduce the cost and improve the reliability of hub bearings. At the same time, there is no need to adjust the position of internal parts when assembling into the car.
Light weight and miniaturization
The design of the second and third generation hub bearings requires finite element analysis, which ensures that the flange is rigid enough while minimizing its volume and weight as much as possible. The rigidity of the third generation hub bearings is the tilt angle of the hub flange relative to the outer ring flange. The weight of axle is reduced by integrated and miniaturized design. The second generation hub bearings are 180 g lighter than the first generation, and the third generation hub bearings are 120 g lighter.
Low friction moment
An important measure to reduce the fuel consumption of automobiles is to design hub bearings with low friction moment. The main factors affecting the friction moment of bearings are the type of bearings and preload. The seal of bearings accounts for a large proportion of the friction moment components. Therefore, improving seal design and reducing friction moment can significantly improve the performance of hub bearings. With the development of hub bearings from the first generation to the fourth generation, the friction moment decreases gradually.
ABS Technology
ABS is a kind of automobile safety control device with the advantages of anti-skid and anti-lock. It can automatically adjust the braking force to prevent the wheel from locking and shorten the braking distance by detecting the speed of the wheel in emergency braking. Speed detection is carried out by a magnetic sensor mounted on the parts rotating with the wheel and fixed on the car body nearby. The hub unit with ABS sensor can be divided into two situations: one is placed inside the hub, while the sensor is installed on other parts; the other is placed inside the hub together with the sensor (called hub unit with sensor).
